Our Editorial Policy & Independence

ReaThis is editorially independent. We do not accept payment for reviews, rankings, or favorable coverage, we publish no sponsored content, and no company we cover can influence our verdicts.

ReaThis exists to help readers make better-informed decisions about technology. That only works if you can trust what you read here. This page explains, plainly, how we operate and how we protect our independence.

We are editorially independent

The companies, products, and services we cover have no influence over our content. Specifically:

  • We do not accept payment for reviews, rankings, or favorable coverage. No company can pay to appear on ReaThis, to rank higher in a comparison, or to have criticism removed or softened.
  • We publish no sponsored or vendor-written content disguised as editorial. Everything you read here is our own independent work.
  • Our rankings are not pay-to-play. Where we rank or recommend products, the order reflects our evaluation against consistent, published criteria — nothing else. See exactly how on our How We Evaluate page.

How ReaThis is funded

  • ReaThis is an independent project funded by its founder, and currently carries no advertising or affiliate relationships.
  • ReaThis is supported by [standard display advertising], kept entirely separate from our editorial decisions. Advertisers have no say in what we cover or how we cover it.

Our funding never determines our verdicts. If that ever changes, we will update this page and disclose it clearly on the affected articles.

On affiliate links: ReaThis does not currently use affiliate links. If we ever introduce them, we will (a) disclose them clearly at the top of any article that contains them, and (b) never let a potential commission influence a recommendation or ranking. (Edit or remove to match your actual practice.)

Our editorial standards

  • Evidence first. Our claims are based on research, hands-on testing where possible, vendor documentation, and verifiable sources.
  • Balance, always. Every product has trade-offs. We name the downsides even of the products we rate most highly, and we tell you who a product is not right for.
  • Clarity over hype. We avoid marketing language and exaggerated claims; if something is genuinely good, the evidence should show it.
  • Named, accountable authorship. Every article is written and reviewed by a named editor with relevant expertise. See who’s behind our work on our About us Page.
  • No undisclosed conflicts. Where any relationship could reasonably be seen to affect our objectivity, we disclose it.

Corrections and updates

We work hard to be accurate, but technology — and pricing, features, and providers — changes constantly. If you spot an error or something out of date, email arun@reathis.com and we’ll review it promptly. When we correct a meaningful error, we note it on the article. We also revisit our guides as the products they cover evolve, and we show when each was last updated.

Our promise to you

If you act on advice you read here, you should be able to trust that it was given honestly, in your interest, and free of outside influence. That is the entire purpose of ReaThis.
